Goodreads.com

My book and I are now on Goodreads.com. What I need next is for readers to write reviews, and to “recommend” the book to their friends.

I am (a lot!) late coming to the party at Goodreads.com. My colleagues at the library told me about it for years, but it took getting published myself to motivate me to find my way to this panacea for booklovers.

There are author accounts, of course, and some ways to promote one’s work, but primarily, Goodreads.com is for readers to share and recommend good books with each other. You could use it to keep track of what you’ve read, and you can certainly use it to find the next great read! It’s free, non-invasive, and pretty darn simple to use. (Considering I rarely find technology simple, this is good!)

Goodreads is widely used by avid readers. Wikepedia says in 2013 they had 20 million members. So you can see why I’m excited about its potential as a way to spread the word about The Curse of the Neverland.

Because I’ve started using it at the same time that I’ve become an author, I’ve really been enjoying writing glowing reviews for the books I’ve loved, because I recognize what a difference that can make for the author’s visibility and success.

Here’s my way of motivating you: If you write a review for The Curse of the Neverland on Goodreads by June 1st, I will send you a full set of Piper Pan Character Cards for FREE. That’s an $8 value. Or, if you prefer, I will promise you access to a pre-published pdf of book 2 before everyone else gets it (right now I’m shooting for an October publication date). If you choose the latter, I would again be hitting you up for a review.

Here’s what you do: go to www.goodreads.com. Open an account if you do not yet have one. Look up my book, click on it to access my “book page,” then click on the upper right where it says “write a review.” Once you’ve finished, e-mail me to tell me it’s done at lindy@piperpanandhermerryband.com. Include your name, which “reward” you want, and your address if you want a set of character cards.

You can also mark the book as one you’ve read and rate it (1 to 5 stars). Then “recommend it” to your friends on Goodreads.

You know how “online buzz” works – it takes a few, who get 9, who get 80, who get 800, and so forth. I appreciate your help in growing “the buzz!”

This week you get the final 2 chapters in my weekly audio release—thanks to those of you who have been downloading them—I trust you’ve enjoyed the audio experience! Click here for access.
