Writer at Work

Thought I’d give you the down and dirty truth of a writer at work. Nothing glamorous, sexy, or cool. Usually quite comfortable, however, and definitely consuming, challenging, and often entertaining (from the inside, not from the outside!)

Writer at Work

My favorite place to work is sitting on my bed with my laptop on my lap. Not Sunset Magazine worthy, that’s for sure! The ergonomics works for my hands, and it’s super comfortable.

Status on Book 2 of Piper Pan and Her Merry Band: I’ve assembled a “second draft,” printed it out, read it through, and am putting those marked-on-paper changes into my document. I can say I’m happier with what I see than after the first draft—beyond that, we’ll see. After this it’s time for a set of outside eyes.

I could also give you my husband’s side of what it’s like to be with a writer at work:

“This person on the bed glued to her computer is distracted, inattentive, overly serious, moody, not really present, not particularly affectionate, and largely crabby. What did you do with my wife?”

I made that up, but that doesn’t make it any less true!

Now you know the real story of what it’s like to be, or be around, a writer at work.

Let’s see you in your creative digs! E-mail me a photo, or post one on www.facebook.com/LindyMacLaineBooks.

  • Process shots, process shots so very important I am told!!! Fun bit tonight, love your process shot…..and the extra comment of others that might be involved spouse, kitties….I am still looking to do the making of a greeting card process shot so this is a good incentive.
